Julian Jardine has been creating ceramic sculpture for over 30 years. He established his first workshop in 1993 after completing a BA Hons in Ceramics at Duncan of Jordanstone Art College in Dundee. Since then his work has sold to collectors around the world and his style has become easily recognisable in galleries. Julian established the Jardine Gallery and Workshop in 2008 and works there currently. In 2012 he opened the Workshop in a second shop just opposite the gallery, where all the classes are now taken. Visitors to the gallery can regularly see Julian at work.

I sculpt largely from memory using reference photographs purely for finer details. The sculptures I create are more about the character of the animal than trying to be photographic. There is often a slightly human element in the look or pose of an animal I am trying to create giving them attitude.

Many of my pieces are completely unique, so poses and expressions vary. Over the years I have built up a range of limited edition and open edition sculptures also to compliment the larger work.
