Chris Wright

Chris Wright is a self-taught artist born and raised in Norfolk. Now living in Surrey, Chris works as both a Professional Wildlife Artist and School Teacher.

In 2010 Chris Wright was Highly Commended at the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year awards. He was then shortlisted for the same award in 2011 and 2012. Chris’s reputation continues to grow internationally, selling to private collectors worldwide. A percentage of his art profits is donated to the Born Free Foundation.

His drawings have also proven very popular and lucrative lots, auctioned at high profile star-studded fundraising events. To date, his work has raised over £14,000 for wildlife organisations. These include the Sumatran Orang-utan Society, Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the Environmental Investigation Agency, WildAid and Born Free.

Debuting with a one-man show at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts in Birmingham in 2004 which resulted in a sell-out. This was followed by a very successful solo exhibition at the cueB gallery, London in 2011. He is an Associate of The Society of Feline Artists and was awarded a Gold Citation by The Wildlife Art Society International in 2010. Recently Chris has been invited to become a signature member of Artists for Conservation.

Chris has travelled extensively throughout Africa, Central America, Europe and Asia, enjoying first-hand encounters with many of the animals that now inspire his work. His is committed to wildlife conservation through his work with Born Free organisation. Part of his commitment to protecting endangered species includes donating a percentage of his art profits to Born Free’s project work. This helps to keep wildlife where it belongs – in the wild.
