Naked Raku Totem Sculpture
Naked raku is a variation of the raku technique in which a slip is applied to the pot before it is placed in the raku kiln. The slip cracks and breaks apart during the firing and is chipped off after to reveal a blackened crackle pattern.
About the artist : John Scott established Sourdust Pottery in 1991 at the age of 19. He has developed his work over the years to specialise in naked raku, copper matt reduction and sculptural pieces. He exhibits in galleries across the UK and is a regular at the Potfest International Ceramic Fairs. The quality, ingenuity and passion that he puts into his work was acknowledged in 2020, by being awarded Potfest Potter of the year, as judged by other professionals in the field.
