About the artist : Dennis Hales is a registered professional turner with the Worshipful Company of Turners or the City of London and both the Suffolk and Norfolk Contemporary Craft Society. He uses locally sourced woods including Sycamore, Holly, Ash and Maple. These white woods provide an excellent surface for applying water soluble dyes to colour and metal leaf to gilt.
