Based in the beautiful landscape of North Yorkshire, Andrea finds endless inspiration in the vast skies and open spaces that surround her in Yorkshire. The ever-changing light, the quiet moods of the land, and the drama of the clouds all find their way into her work.
Andrea paints primarily in oils, creating evocative landscapes known for their sweeping horizons and atmospheric skies. Her encaustic wax paintings take a more abstracted form, yet they share the same connection to place, mood, and memory.
Since starting her business, I’ve been building a sustainable creative practice rooted in connection — to the landscape, to the materials she uses, and to the people who find meaning in her paintings and chose to live with them in their homes.
The Jardine Gallery recently opened at 12 Colliergate, York and shortly after I found Andrea’s stricking paintings while looking online. I am delighted she was able to stock us with her original paintings as he work brings a new element to the gallery.
Her work with encaustic Wax is particularly unusual and brings a technique I have never exhibited at the gallery before. It is an ancient technique using heated beeswax mixed with damar resin and pigments, applied molten to surfaces like wood
