About the artist :
Richard Bideau’s work is well known for its use of crystalline glazes which he first came into contact with through an article in the July 1995 edition of the New Scientist magazine. Although a difficult technique, Bideau was hooked by the amazing results.
Originally educated in the sciences, he holds a degree in engineering and has decades of experience working within the Gas Turbine industry. However, it was the New Scientist article that reminded him of his childhood love for pottery. He now works as a full-time potter, creating and experimenting with crystalline glazes that satisfy both his interests in art and chemistry.
