Hub Cap Creations by Ptolemy Erlington
Hubcap creatures are made entirely from re-cycled materials. All the hubcaps are found, usually on the side of the road, and therefore bear the scars of their previous lives in the form of scratches and abrasions. I believe these marks add texture and history to the creatures they decorate, and so choose not to fill, overpaint or alter them in any way.
Ptolemy Elrington was born in 1965. Since studying to degree level in art and design he's been working as a self-employed professional sculptor for ten years. He works in recycled materials with a regenerative eco aware theme inherent in his work. Clients in the last couple of years have included the R.S.P.B., The Environment Agency, Thames Barrier, Ronseal, Kenwood and Essex County Council. His work has been shown in numerous venues in London and the surrounding area and has also travelled to exhibitions in Ireland and Greece. Forthcoming work includes scrap metal work promoting recycling in Chelmsford district, numerous private commissions, and displays in London and Barcelona. He currently lives and works in Brighton.
Ptolemy has appeared on Blue Peter, Smart, Art Attack, Richard and Judy and a few other TV programs also.
