A course of classes aimed at encouraging adults to try hand building using clay. Starting with simple techniques in pinch potting you will quickly learn how to build and alter forms to make a wide variety of objects. Many people choose to make an animal as that is my speciality but we have tackled everything from portraits, figures, slab built vases and train stations to name just a few. You are welcome to have a go at whatever you like and I will give you some guidance on the level of complexity before starting.

Class size is limited to 10 which allows a good amount of time for each individual in the class to get assistance when needed. The classes are aimed at being an informal, fun and enjoyable way to learn a hobby. You need not have any experience, in fact many people have never done anything in clay since leaving school, but do not let that deter you, you can take the course at your own pace.

As people are of all different skill levels and working at different projects people regularly join during a course, this will not cause you a disadvantage, so if your interested please get in contact. The course costs* cover clay, firings and paints or glazes for finishing. Please note that as most of the work is non functional it will mainly be finished in acrylics as my own work is. Occasionally I will do some glazing, but as glaze firings are not undertaken regularly work may have to wait for a while to be completed this way.

Complimentary tea and coffee are available.

*covers up to the first 25kg of clay, glazes and firings. Additional clay may be purchased if required.

Please fill in the contact form to enquire about enrolling or call the gallery on 01738 621836 during working hours.
